Sennheiser headphones win five CES Innovations Awards

Sennheiser was presented with five awards for its latest headphone models at the ceremony of the Consumer Electronics Association in mid-November in New York. The HD 800 audiophile headphones, RS 170 and RS 180 digital wireless headphones, and the MM 450 wireless music/ communications headset impressed the expert jury in the “Headphones” category. The MM 450 was also chosen in the “Wireless Handset Accessories” category. All prize winners as well as new product highlights will be shown by the audio specialist at CES from 7 January to 10 January in Las Vegas.

“As a premium brand, innovative technology and the delivery of excellent quality are our mission,” said Susanne Seidel, President of Global Marketing at Sennheiser. “Therefore, we are delighted that the Consumer Electronics Association has recognized these qualities with five CES Innovation Awards for our latest consumer headphones.”

The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards are presented once a year in recognition of the most innovative consumer electronics products. An interdisciplinary jury made up of engineers and technical journalists chose the HD 800, RS 170 and RS 180, and MM 450 this year because of their unparalleled advanced technology, innovative designs and incredible sound quality.

The HD 800 audiophile headphones deliver brilliant trebles, precise bass and a particularly spatial sound image, reproducing sound in the most natural and lifelike way from 6 to 51,000 Hz. A key innovation is the HD 800’s unique, ring-shaped 56 mm transducer. It allows the purest possible sound reproduction in exceptional detail, while keeping total harmonic distortion to less than 0.02 percent. These excellent sound properties are supported by carefully selected materials and a top-quality finish.

The RS 170 and RS 180 digital wireless headphones for home stereo systems deliver high-resolution, movie-theatre-quality audio via digital wireless transmission from Kleer. The RS 170 feature a dynamic bass boost and switchable surround sound – a must-have for any home theatre set-up. The open-back RS 180 are designed for the audiophile: settings like speech intelligibility and balance can be precisely adjusted for the ultimate listening experience.

The MM 450 headset from Sennheiser Communications combines the quality of luxury noise-cancelling headphones with the superior functionality of an advanced Bluetooth mobile headset. Sennheiser’s NoiseGard technology effectively reduces ambient noise for clear phone calls and ultimate enjoyment of your favourite tracks.

“Our customers and partners expect products from Sennheiser that not only offer state-of-the-art technology but also fulfil the special demands of audiophile music fans,” explained Maurice Quarré, Head of Product Management Consumer Electronics at Sennheiser. “These new headphones do just that.”

Sennheiser can be found from January 7 to January 10 in the South Hall, booth no. 21240, at the exhibition centre in Las Vegas.
